lochness lovers by MartianRaindrop42 lochness lovers by MartianRaindrop42
my first and my second nessies.these two are crochet with a solid cool grey yarn and than their colors and markings were added with sharpie permanent markers.which is something that i had never tried before. it was fun to do them that way! so far the color has resisted fading pretty well.this picture of them was taken almost two -three months after their completion. the one on the left is called "fatboy" and he was the first one i made, the one on the right is his girlfriend called "slindar"

Thank you! I wanted very specific markings that yarn alone would not accomplish, so I used sharpie pens not knowing how they would hold up over time. and now that these are about 2 years old I can say that I am very happy with how well the color from those pens has held up. they are a bit dusty from being on a shelf but the colors are still strong.

I would love to give it to you, except that I haven't documented the pattern yet.I just crochet them as I go, out of my head. ive been thinking of trying to write the pattern for them out seeing as ive now made 5 different ones, each one so far has come out a little different. its always the head and the tail fins that are the most different from eachother. so, I think I should pick my most fafourite one and try to copy it, while writing the pattern.

Even if the colors faded slightly, I think it would look cool. Like aging and weathering on the skin. Magnificent work!

You so should! you can make anything with crochet.it just takes practice.the feeling of knowing you can make your own toys is such a cool feeling! not to mention all the fashion accessories you can custom make too.

This isn't aimed at martain1985, but there has been something that's bothering me for a while. I'm not trying to get all malcom X here, but I'm a bit tired of the 'female always has shorter ____' when people make creatures (I'm looking at you pokemon). Yea, it's evident in nature, lionesses not having manes, and female birds usually brown or not as extravagantly detailed as male counterparts, but hear me out here.

As an idea of male vs female, I can understand the female having smaller horns. But why not make her more effeminate? Why not make the female have big fins on her head instead of horns? That would signify it being female.

sorry to rant, even though I went off a bit there, I do like this pair, how the female's head & eyes & fins are shaped differently in a nice way

Totally.you know, I never have a specific sex in mind when I make these, they just kind of develope as they become.fatboy was the first one and was intended to be more slender,so, when I made the second one I strove to make it more like I had Intended fatboy to be.so, seeing that it appeared by steriotype to appear more feminine I matched them up as boyfriend and girlfriend! (you make a valid point though)
